Who Is A Professional Photographer?
Before talking about myself very briefly, let me explain who a professional photographer really is. Obviously, ownership of an expensive camera cannot make anyone a pro. Being a professional means that the photographer understands the goals of photographic assignments, creates high quality images with meaningful composition and message, upgrades constantly his/her skills in any way possible, and behaves at all times with courtesy, honesty and integrity. This is what I have seen and learned throughout my professional experiences as well as while helping my late father, who was also a professional photographer and owner of a photo studio. I have also become a very energetic photographer who captures events in a very dynamic style and poses subjects in a meaningful way while encouraging natural behaviour of each individual through his interactions with subjects.
Why I Love Professional Photography
When I was 8 years old, my late father gave me a film camera as a gift. Sometime later, he showed me how to print some of the images I had captured on medium format black and white film, which is now considered an art form. At the age of 18, I started to work as second wedding shooter and assistant for my father. My father also taught me how to use large format cameras to produce portraits and fine art. I took these skills to Europe where I used to study and work for many years. Because I lived, studied and worked in three countries for several years, I have become a fully functional trilingual. Multilingualism, personal and professional experiences in three different countries have helped me understand diverse and interesting cultures and their beauties. This has been of great help to me as a professional photographer in Toronto, world's most multicultural city. Sometime after my graduation from University of Toronto (B.Sc. with high distinction in Pharmacology and M.Sc. in Pharmacy), I purchased my first high quality camera in Canada, which I used to produce event, portrait, fine art, and commercial product images. My background in science, part of my past life, and my current happy life as a proud Canadian have influenced my world and artistic visions as a photographer and as a human. It is very hard for me to decide which of my photographic specialties is my favourite. Capturing wedding events (posed & dynamic photojournalistic style) is immensely enjoyable, as I also become a witness to the union of two persons and their ceremonial expression of love. It is a true privilege to digitally and creatively record such lovely events. Creation of film based black and white fine art prints on archival paper and selective handcolouring with oil colour of some of them is so fun. Making professionals, young people or more mature people happy with their portrait images is so rewarding. Producing digital images of various products or professionals for marketing a company's products makes me a contributor in a small way. Neutral (unbiased) journalistic photography of socio-political events and photography of fundraising activities for scientific research give me the feeling that I am helping my fellowmen in general and my fellow Canadians in particular at least a bit.
If you are looking for an energetic and creative wedding photographer, I will be honoured to capture the event that represents start of a joyful life and happiness for you and your family.
I look forward to this day!
My Wife's Unconditional Support
As a professional photographer, I am also so lucky to have a wife who has always been supportive and enjoys my imagery. I compiled the following slideshow for her in 2009:
Thanks for reading my brief bio and allowing me to share with you my ideas!
